Can you Relate?

I’m sure you’ve had those times (and maybe it’s right now) when you feel burned out, exhausted or restless, like you need to get more motivated and energized in some area of life. You might be tempted to move to a new place, quit your job, make some new financial plans, change your relationships, amp up your sex life, travel the world, change the world or maybe change your look because you’re a) stressed out, b) burned out, c) restless or d) all of the above.

The New Year is one of those times many of us find ourselves needing to create a resolution but this year you are going to have the opportunity to LEVEL UP with a KISS!

The thing is that sometimes we think we need a big change to make life more exciting, but really we just need to make simple and sustainable ones.

Rather than overhauling your entire life because you feel like it’s the only way to get unstuck, let’s talk about “Keep It Simple Stupid” ways you can get unstuck and level up in your life. In this post, I’m sharing a KISS tool to help you focus on where you want to feel more rejuvenated when life feels overwhelming or unexciting.

How I Knew When to Level Up

Even though I run a successful business and private practice and have a great life – up until not so long ago something was missing from my life. I have a relatively busy schedule to keep me occupied, but there were certain parts of the day when I found myself in a low mood and unmotivated with my current situation.

I started to notice my red flags. Scrolling aimlessly through social media, watching random documentaries or going down rabbit holes on Pinterest; cleaning or cooking like a madwoman all while feeling like a hot mess. . . basically anything except what was on my “desire list” was getting accomplished - Just a whole lot of checking out. Eventually this created more low-level emotions, restlessness and boredom because I ended up comparing my life to other people’s and wishing my life didn’t feel blah or boring. It was a vicious circle that didn’t benefit me in any way.

All in all, I wanted a change and I wanted to level up my life and get out of the rut I knew I was in. I was not taking care of myself in some areas of my life and I knew it was time to make some changes. I also knew I needed to make small steps to cha cha my way out of the slump I was in.

Small Changes That Have Helped Me To Level Up

When you’re feeling restless, exhausted or unmotivated, it’s important to really listen to what’s going on internally. What is causing these feelings? Is it overworking, not doing things that are fulfilling, or feeling disconnected with what you want to do or overcome by what others want you to do?

Some things that helped me level up are:

• Sticking to my morning rituals
• Going to bed at a consistent time
• Tweaking my nutrition to compliment my energy
• Getting back into swimming on a regular basis
• Rekindling my love for DIY projects

Even though these are simple things, I found that they were missing from my daily routine and were creating a bigger disconnects from myself than I thought. Sometimes what we WANT is not always what we NEED. So paying attention to the simple and small details can really help you feel more aligned everyday.

Now that I’ve shared what’s been helping me, let’s talk about what you can do to level up your everyday life.

How To Level Up

In order to level up, you have to figure out where you’re at right now and what changes you can make. A simple way to do this is through a KISS tool called the Level Up Wheel.

Within the wheel - that you can download for free here, you will rank the different areas of your life on a scale of 1-10 based on how satisfied you feel with them. You’ll be ranking the following areas of your life:

  • Physical Health – sleep, self-care, eating habits, exercise

  • Mental/Emotion Health – quality of thoughts, level of positivity, attitude toward the world

  • Financial Health – sticking to a budget, savings, tendency to overspend

  • Social Health – interactions with family, friends, partners, colleagues, etc.

  • Business/Work – productivity levels, attitude toward work, fulfillment with position or career

  • Sexual – pleasuring yourself, receiving and giving pleasure, feeling connected to your sensuality

  • Creativity/Play – hobbies, activities, fun, downtime, DIY projects

  • Spiritual – connecting with yourself or a higher power, learning new self-awareness tools

At the end of the exercise, your Level Up Wheel might look a little like this:

Once you are done, you can see which areas need the most attention. From here, try to focus on one or two promises you can keep to yourself for the next 30 days on the area that you feel needs the most work. Then once you have completed that 30 days get to 60 days and then 90 days. At 90 days you have a fully formed new habit or pattern in your new life. That 30-60-90 day promise is sure to level up your vibe. It will bring more synergy to what you want in life.

Choosing to work on a few life areas at once may not sound as exciting as an entire life overhaul, but this method is more sustainable than trying to do everything right away.

Remember to create awareness around what you really need (not what you think you need), and focus on the small, simple little changes that add up to larger changes over time.
