What happens when a woman has spent years adapting, caring for others, and carrying too much—and what does it take to come back to herself?

You were never broken. You were adapting.

For thoughtful, high-capacity women ready to understand the patterns beneath burnout, masking and self-abandonment—and build a life that includes them.

Psychotherapy for women in British Columbia and Alberta. Writing and community for women everywhere.

When the life that held you together no longer holds

You may have spent years becoming capable, dependable and highly attuned to what others need. From the outside, your life may look successful. Inside, you may be spending enormous energy maintaining the version of yourself everyone expects.

Then something changes.

Burnout. A diagnosis. A relationship rupture. A loss. An illness. A body that can no longer continue at the same pace.

What feels like falling apart may be the moment your life begins telling the truth.

Find your way in

Community

There is a life beyond working on yourself.

For women wondering what comes after survival and self-repair. Find thoughtful writing and conversation about desire, creativity, connection, and becoming more fully yourself.

The Becoming Body™

Your body is not broken. It has a story to tell.

The Becoming Body explores what our bodies may be communicating about the relationships, expectations, and systems we live within—and how we can return to ourselves with greater trust, choice, and connection.

Therapy

You don’t have to make sense of everything alone.

Therapy offers a place to understand what you’re carrying, make room for your experience, and find a way forward that honours who you are—including your body, your history, and your neurodivergence.

The strategies that helped you survive may no longer be sustainable

Your ability to anticipate, care, achieve and endure helped you navigate the conditions of your life.

But an adaptation can become a prison when you are no longer free to stop.

My work explores what happens when women begin listening to the body beneath the roles—and discover that they do not have to abandon themselves to remain loving, connected or worthy.

Clinical experience. Lived understanding. A different way forward.

I’m Angela Slade, MA, RCC, CMHIMP—a psychotherapist, writer and educator with more than 20 years of experience supporting women through trauma, burnout, grief, identity change and relational patterns.

My late discovery of ADHD and autism changed how I understood my own history and the effort I had spent trying to become understandable.

I had believed I needed to work harder at being human.

Now I understand that I was never broken. I was adapting.

You do not have to become someone new

You may be learning to recover the woman beneath the competence, caregiving, masking and roles—and allow her to become present in her own life.

You can begin by becoming curious about what your exhaustion, emotions and body have been trying to communicate.

What feels like an ending may also be an opening for a more joy-filled and authentic life.
